As part of the course 3S100 "Magnetism & Magnetic Materials", I gave a minilecture about micro- and nanomagnetism. An introduction was given to the physics: critical diameters were derived for superparamagnetism and single-domain behaviour, the curling and buckling modes were briefly explained. Then three applications were presented: ferrofluids, biosensors and vortex switching.
